My Wind River's Top 10

We just got back from the packing trip of a life time. Here are the top 10 things I learned while on the trip!!!!

1. My mother-in-law is one AMAZING horse rider. Her horse was being naughty and attempted several times to throw poor Becky off...but she will not be defeated!!! Horse for sale anyone???

2. Never trust a horse when there are carrots in the packs. We turned for 5 seconds and Business (Morlin's horse) went digging through the packs and found some carrots and ran off with the whole bag shaking his head to open his new found treasure. He was gracious though and shared with his fellow horsies! It was seriously hilarious!

3. Camping in 40 degree should best be done when 40 is the LOW and not the high. I didn't understand until after the trip why my mother-in-law gave me a funny look when I asked if we were going to bring ice to put in the cooler. Yes siree...it snowed on us every day, but we all survived! I wore long johns, jeans, a long sleeve shirt, a sweatshirt and a jacket. I had a hat and gloves on the entire time.

4. The Wind River mountain range is one of the most beautiful places on the earth!

5. Always bring extra toilet paper. It is not fun to run out of good ol' T.P. especially for us ladies! On the same note, I am very grateful for potties!!!

6. It is fun to catch fish. I didn't dare touch the little fellas that I caught, but thankfully Richard and Chad (my brother-in-law) are some of the best fish dehookers out there. I honestly think the reason I caught fewer fish on the last day is because I had blinded all the fishies in the lake by catching them in the eye and they couldn't see again to go for the bait!

7. I married a mountain man! He had a campfire built in no-time. We would get to the camp site and before I had a chance to get off my horse, Richard had the fire built.

8. Camping food gives me gas. I am not sure who had worse gas after the trip...me or the horses. This will only be appreciated by those who have had the pleasure of riding behind a tooting horse on a trail ride.

9. Before you go potty, make sure there is not an angry chipmunk nearby that will attempt to knock you out with the pine cones they are throwing at you. True story, my sister-in-law Kara had a chipmunk who felt she was invading his/her territory!

10. Richard's parents are the best ever for taking us on the trip. My mother-in-law was so sweet to get her horses in shape for the trip. She would ride up to 3 different horses each day to make sure they were in good shape. Also, I think Chad and Kara are great camping buddies! We would have been completely dehydrated if it wasn't for their superb water pumping abilities.

I love to fish as well....but only if Ben or Tom will dehook it for me. :) Wind Rivers looks beautiful! I can't wait to hear more about it.

This post was so funny! I can't choose a favorite one of the top ten because most of them had me wiping my eyes after a fit of giggles.

What an awesome vacation, except for the 40 degrees part. Holy crap. You're a stronger woman than I am. But I have to admit that I am so jealous! I miss pack trips. And I miss Wyoming!

How hilarious! I certainly miss your wit and humor! : ) It looks like you guys had a great time! I am envious... no fences, camping, and gas (OK maybe not the gas : )
