Like Mother Like Daugther

Have I ever told you of my mom's visiting teaching experiences?? Well, my mom could seriously WRITE A BOOK on them. She usually visits inactives and keep in mind we have lived in Texas, Virginia, California and Washington (to name a few)and she has seen some interesting things. She has walked through a gun fight, made secret appointments when the anti-Mormon husband is not home, visit taught a few mentally ill people (who allow their children to defecate on the floor) and light fires INSIDE the house, had people smoke in their homes mid-visit and made visits in places whose cleanliness level would have been unacceptable to barn animals. Yes, she has seen some very interesting things and been to some interesting places.

Well, like mother like daughter, I am walking in her footsteps. Not necessarily because I currently visit inactive sisters, BUT because I live in the ghetto of Provo. Go on laugh, I know you don't think there is a ghetto in Provo. You are right compared to California, where I have also lived, Provo's ghetto is not THAT bad. BUT, its still not the best and I don't prefer living where I live. So yesterday I am on my way to visit teach and notice about a bazillion fire trucks, ambulances, and police cars about a block from where I am standing. (I visit teach at 371 South 500 East). Lo and behold, the catastrophe that is going on is at approximately 500 South 500 East, so very close. Being the nosey person I am, I am dying to find out what is going on, BUT I must go an visit teach.

I get home and mention to my husband that there was some sort of chaos going on and that I thought it could be a fight. Well, lo and behold I was right. Not only a fight, BUT a riot....all while I was visiting teaching only a block away. See, if those young men, would have let me share the message with them, they might have not been so angry and been trying to kill each other.

Oh, and by the way, the article says it happened around 7:00 pm, not so my friends. It was clearly more around 6:15 pm, because my appointment was at 6:30 and I was almost late as I was trying to figure out what was going on.

Can I just say that I am purely entertained when I read your posts. You have a way with words my friend. That is funny that while you are sharing the good word, that there are men acting like apes and stabbing each other. MOVE OUT OF THE GHETTO!!!
